To live vigorously and luxuriantly, to flourish

Belief Becomes Your Biology

When we evaluate health choices, we cannot ignore the immense influence OUR BELIEFS have on body function.   Thrive Coach also addresses client stress.  Tools are provided to help clients move through difficult situations.  Client consultations shed light on old beliefs that no longer serve the client and may in fact be contributing to chronic symptoms or disease.  (Read a testimony here).

Geneticists now claim that only 3% of disease is ACTUALLY due to your DNA.  The genes you carry must be “turned on”.  The “ON” switch can be your environment, your food or even your way of thinking and handling stress.

This has given birth to a whole new science:

EPIGENETICS – the study of changes in organisms caused by modification of gene expression rather than alteration of the genetic code itself.

Your external point of view is but a MIRROR of your internal point of view.

Most of us grow up believing we are victims of circumstance and that we have no control over the situations we find ourselves in.  We become frustrated and downright “sick and tired” of the same vicious cycles.  A problem resolves and after a brief period of bliss (if we are lucky) another problem arises.  We seek out ways to escape: alcohol, drugs, vacations, foods, television, excessive exercise or maybe just being busy.

“The solution is not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.”

When we make statements like:

He/She won’t let me

My life is off track

I can’t lose weight

I’m not smart enough

(Because of a trauma) I will never be the same

We say them with absolute certainty that they are, in fact, TRUE!  However, they are only true to you because you believe it to be so.  You have conditioned and protected yourself in such a way that any similar situation that arises will immediately be filed under an already established POINT OF VIEW.

What you see in your world is a reflection of who you BELIEVE you are.

Thoughts are an important part of our biology – and they are very powerful.  A thought held long enough and repeated often enough becomes a BELIEF.  Our beliefs become our biology.  Our beliefs determine our emotional reactions to all situations.  Any emotion that you cannot control, you are physiologically ADDICTED to it.

Every emotion produces a chemical of small chain amino acids (building blocks to proteins).  Happy emotions produce healthy chemicals.  Unhappy emotions produce un-healthy chemicals.  These chemicals dock on cell receptors and lock in.  They are capable of changing the function of the cell.  As that cell divides into more cells, it creates more receptor sights for the emotional chemical.  And like any addiction, it will take more and more chemical to satisfy the cravings of our cells.  Our BIOLOGY will literally DICTATE the way we need to VIEW OUR WORLD in order to FEED OUR CHEMICAL ADDICTIONS.

“What you see depends on what you are looking for.”

OUR OPERATING POINT OF VIEW determines how we view our world.

Our operating point of view is a strong belief that whether it serves us or not, directs us to judge and VIEW our reality in a way that continues to support this belief. We associate “who we are” with this belief and if this belief is WRONG, than who are we?

We tend to think of our beliefs as rigid. A belief is really only a THOUGHT you keep THINKING.

It is more like a HABIT OF THOUGHT.

Begin to become AWARE of emotional states that you seem unable to control.  Ask yourself what it is about this emotion that you believe to be true.  And then recite this verse:

“This is an interesting point of view. I have this point of view.  What else is possible?

What’s RIGHT about this that I am not getting?  How can it get better than this? ”

LET ME EXPLAIN:

“This is an interesting point of view. I have this point of view.  What else is possible?”

I acknowledge that this statement is a mere POINT OF VIEW.  And I HAVE THIS POINT OF VIEW (that is not serving me well).

What else is possible?”

This question, as well as the next two, are not to be answered by your logical mind.  That answer can only come from what YOU know which will only get you MORE of what you’ve known.  This is the definition of insanity; doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different result.

You must QUIET your own mind filled chatter and ALLOW the divine to guide you.

“What’s RIGHT about this that I am not getting?”

Until you are willing to accept that there is something “RIGHT” about this seemingly WRONG situation, you will not be able to shift your belief or POINT OF VIEW regarding it.  And it will continue to REPEAT!

“How can it get better than this?”

Let me explain.  This is simply your prayer to the divine.  We do not need to know what to pray for.  When we allow the divine, we are promised “more than we can imagine”, hence something we’ve never known.

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”   Romans 12:2

CREATE AN ANCHOR BREAK

Nerve cells that fire together, wire together.  When we tell a story over and over again, nerve cells in the brain create a long term relationship.  This relationship is so embedded that it can create an “automatic” response that by definition is not a NEW PERSPECTIVE.    It is a response from a PAST event that has been repeated (many times in our own mind) over and over again.  The mind does not know the difference between the actual event and the re-telling of the emotional event over and over.  The SAME nerves will fire regardless.

An ANCHOR BREAK will INTERRUPT this automatic (addictive) response.  When you interrupt it enough, the nerves begin to lose their long term relationship.  They no longer fire together and the response is no longer AUTOMATIC.

ANCHOR BREAKS:

Immediately reciting the POV verse

Uplifting Music

Being out in Nature and being present and grateful for the abundance

Create a visualization of a VERY HAPPY event that involves all your senses.  Recalling this event during an emotional upset will stop the addictive firing of set neural pathways.

Learn to mediate and QUIET the mind.  “Be still and know that I am God”.  The divine comes to the quite mind.  The EGO (Edging God Out) pushes you to chatter incessantly so you can continue to validate it.

Aromatherapy: When we inhale through the nose, airborne molecules interact with the olfactory organs and, almost immediately, the brain. During inhalation, odor molecules travel through the nose and affect the brain through a variety of receptor sites, one of which is the limbic system, which is commonly referred to as the “emotional brain.”

The limbic system is directly connected to those parts of the brain that control heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, memory, stress levels, and hormone balance (Higley & Higley, 1998). This relationship helps explain why smells often trigger emotions. Knowing this, we can hypothesize how inhalation of essential oils can have some very profound physiological and psychological effects!

The Stages of Life

By: Carl Jung

“Thoroughly unprepared, we take the step into the afternoon of our life.  Worse still, we take this step with the false presupposition that our truths and ideas will serve as hitherto.  But we cannot live the afternoon of our life according to the program of life’s morning.   For what was great in the morning will be little at the evening and what in the morning was true will at evening become a lie”.
